The History of the County Administration board in Sweden...

Found something very interesting here about this history!!
"In 1634 Chancellor Axel Oxenstierna carried out a reform of Sweden's public administration system, and it was then that the County Administrative Boards were set up, with a County Governor being appointed for each county.

The primary duty of these first County Administrative Boards was to oversee the work of the tax collectors and ensure that taxes were correctly collected. County Governors functioned as the King's commanders in their respective counties.

Over the years that have since passed - almost four hundred of them - the role and duties of the County Administrative Boards have undergone extensive changes. Collection of taxes is now the responsibility of the Inland Revenue, a completely independent authority."

I hadn't the faintest idea about this!! :)
