Seminar: Reading Reality - Sensitive issues in Scandinavian Youth Literature…

It stood about this seminar (occurs in Brussel, not in Sweden):

“How are sensitive issues such as death, illness, drug abuse… treated in Scandinavian youth literature?

Which view on children does it profess? Are there significant differences between the Scandinavian countries? And how different is Belgian youth literature? On Children’s Rights Day, six Scandinavian authors present their work. Together they discuss how they handle sensitive issues in their writings, across country boundaries.”

Also see this page!! About the author of this article:

"Cari Simmons began reading Swedish children’s books when her daughter was born nine years ago. She recently got totally immersed in the LasseMaja newspaper mystery."

Astrid Lindgren 100 years...

photo on Astrid Lindgren.
Today it is 100 years since Astrid Lindgren was born. About her on her own site. A British journalist now living in Sweden, father of two girls and his view on Astrid and her books. About the author:
"David Wiles is a British journalist living in Sweden. He never had the pleasure of discovering Astrid Lindgren's books as a youngster, but as the father of two young girls he now considers himself something of an expert on the exploits of Pippi Longstocking & Co." :-)
On this site there are other links. And at last at Swedish Televisions home site.
